The transition is done. But in this new era of mobile personal computing, the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Limiting_factor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">limiting factor<\/a> is not the <span class=\"caps\">CPU<\/span>, it\u2019s the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Spectral_efficiency\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spectral efficiency<\/a> of the whole mobile environment, experienced as the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Goodput\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">user goodput<\/a>. And underlying both, economic models that serve as a self-fulfilling prophecy and a barrier of what technology could achieve in the future: the costly deployments of mobile networks, financed by debt, parallel those of semiconductor chip fabrication plants that <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rock%27s_law\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rock\u2019s law<\/a> models as constraints to transistor integration limits.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>More than half of all computers aren\u2019t computers anymore.
